All About Delaware Seashore State Park

When you first think of Delaware, state parks may not be the first image to pop into your head. This summer, let’s change that! Head to the Atlantic Coast town of Rehoboth Beach and stay at the stunning Boardwalk Plaza Hotel, a Victorian-style oceanfront hotel that blends all things antique and modern. We are the perfect place for travelers who love the beach, where the sea salt air cleanses our hearts, minds, and souls. When you and yours are not spending your vacation days indulging in ocean view accommodations, room service, boardwalk dining, or our other decadent Rehoboth Beach hotel amenities, explore the wondrous grounds of Delaware Seashore State Park. Delaware Seashore State Park

A short drive south of Rehoboth Beach, you’ll find the Delaware Seashore State Park, the ideal summer destination. The park covers over 2,800 acres, boasting six miles of ocean, around 20 miles of beautiful bay shoreline, and nearly seven miles of trails for hiking, biking, and bird-watching. There’s something for everyone to enjoy at this lovely Delaware state park. Anglers and beachgoers can spend their time by the Indian River Inlet, while others can learn about the site’s maritime history at the Indian River Life-Saving Station, built in 1876.

You can find two ocean swimming areas, patrolled by lifeguards from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day. Additionally, there are some modern beach houses with showers, changing rooms, and several concession stands. Love coastal surfing? Head over to the beach just north of the Indian River Inlet. During your summer visit, keep an eye out for windsurfers, sailers, crabbers, and other adventurists enjoying all that the Delaware Seashore offers!

If you want to save some money, we recommend packing your own beachside picnic meal. Delicious sustenance can be found at the Big Chill Beach Club, an oceanfront restaurant serving up great casual fare and 360-degree views of the Atlantic, Indian River Bay, and inlet. Watch impressive vessels arrive and depart from the Indian River Inlet Marina at Hammerside Dockside, a full-service featuring fresh cuisine, live music, and free parking.

Of course, you can always head back to Boardwalk Plaza after your Delaware Seashore State Park visit and enjoy a meal at Victoria’s Restaurant. Our comfortable accommodations are also a wonderful place to kick back and relax. Check seasonal availability and book your stay with us online today!
