Enjoy a Beach Picnic on the Atlantic Ocean Coast

The Atlantic Coast creates a charming setting for a beach picnic and the vacation of a lifetime. The Boardwalk Plaza Hotel is delighted to welcome guests to our radiant pink Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk hotel. Step back into a time before fast fashion and mass production with our Victorian-era decor. We have some of the finest dining in Delaware at our signature Victoria’s Restaurant, but a beach picnic is a perfect way to recharge during your outdoor adventures.

Our 5 Favorite Picnic Spots in Rehoboth Beach

1. Fenwick Island State Park

Enjoy a dreamy beach picnic by Little Assawoman Bay. Fenwick Island State Park has a rich history and was once home to the Fenwick Island Life-Saving Station, which aided maritime travelers in the 1800s. It also hosts a fire control tower from World War II. Watching Ghost Crabs, swimming, fishing, and kayaking are some of the most popular activities you can work up an appetite with before your picnic by the beach.

2. Delaware Seashore State Park

The Delaware Seashore State Park is the perfect place to enjoy an enchanting Rehoboth Beach picnic. One of the most breathtaking spots at the park is the Indian River Inlet Bridge featuring views of inland bays and unspoiled coastlines. While at the park, you can enjoy kayaking from Savages Ditch to explore the salt marsh islands and a vast array of wildlife like horseshoe crabs, laughing gulls, and snowy egrets. You can also hike through the Burton Island Nature Preserve

3. Cape Henlopen State Park

Enjoy a serene picnic at a park with rich history and magnificent views. Head to the Point Overlook to see where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Delaware Bay. This is a great spot to view local marine life, like dolphins, seals, and birds. You can also tour the Fort Miles Museum and Historical Area, a World War II coastal defense site. Some other sights at this park include the Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse and the Delaware Breakwater Lighthouse, one of the state’s oldest lighthouses.

4. Rehoboth Beach City Parks

There are plenty of Rehoboth Beach city parks perfect for a delightful picnic. Deer Park and Central Park offer wooded areas with tree species such as magnolia, pink, and oak. Nature trails at Central Park offer stunning views of local birds and deer. Grove Park has a play area for the kids and exercise equipment for adults. Plenty of benches, shade, and two pavilions make this an ideal spot in Rehoboth Beach for a picnic.

5. Lake Gerar

Lake Gerar is a lovely 15-acre park with a freshwater lake, playground, walking trails, manicured garden, and a fishing pier. Enjoy a dreamy picnic on the beach at the Lake Gerar picnic table or with your own setup. It’s a little hidden away, so it will likely be quiet and peaceful.
